The Seat Leon FR+ 2.0 TSI DSG 5dr offers a turbocharged engine that gives great performance and comes with loads of equipment, but at an extra cost. The running costs are quite high too. For those who want a car for city driving and everyday use, the extra expense might be a waste of money, but those who want a powerful hatchback to take out on the motorway, this will satisfy.

PROS:  The FR+ trim comes complete with sports seats, an exciting ride, clever electronics that work to aid faster cornering.

CONS:  The extra price to pay might not be worth the boost in performance and trim if an economic car is what you are looking for.

Behind the Wheel

The 2.0-litre petrol engine allows for a little more push than that of the 1.2-litre and 1.4-litre petrol engines. Producing 206 lb-ft torque power at 1700 rpm, and 208 bhp at 5300 rpm, the Seat Leon FR+ 2.0 TSI DSG 5dr 5dr has a top speed of 145 mph and reaches 0-62 mph in 6.9 seconds.

The Leon FR+ 2.0 TSI DSG has upgraded performance and will provide a great driving experience for those who want a nippy hatchback that they can take out of the city for motorway driving.

Looks & Equipment

The Leon FR+ cabin is spacious and has solidly built features and the dashboard is coated with a padded material, the other parts of the interior are however created in a hard grainy plastic.

The equipment that comes as standard with the Seat Leon FR+ includes climate control, power steering, alloy wheels, cruise control, parking sensors, sat nav, Bluetooth, MP3 connectivity, electric door mirrors and electric front mirrors. Metallic paint and leather seats are available at an extra cost.

Practicality, Safety & Reliability

The 341 litre boot is a little awkwardly shaped, due to the shallow level and the floor is low in relation to the boot lip. The Seat Leon also lacks a few much-needed cubbyholes. The moulded plastic centre console doesn’t come fitted with a storage box and glove box is relatively small. Five people will fit in the hatchback.

The hatchback comes with stability control, central locking, an alarm and immobiliser as standard as well as front, curtain and side airbags. VW parts ensure that the Seat is both robust and reliable with Euro NCAP safety crash test results awarding the Seat Leon FR+ 2.0 TSI DSG 5dr a total of four stars. All engines and electrics have been tried and tested.

Value for Money

The Leon FR+ 2.0 TSI DSG 5dr is priced at £23,100 and has a full level of kit, although the SE Copa model comes with a very similar level of equipment for a lesser price. It also has much better engine efficiency.

The combined average of the Leon hatch is 37.7 mpg and it has CO2 emissions of 174 g/km, which is quite high.

The FR+ 2.0 TSI DSG is a great option for performance, but it priced quite highly and it's performance is not as good as the only slightly more expensive Cupra R version.
