CarSite Verdict:  3.5/5
The Seat Ibiza SE Copa 1.4 16v 5dr offers great space and practicality, a comfortable driving experience and a price tag that beats the credit crunch. However, it is not an overly exciting hatchback to drive and will disappoint those who like a bit of power behind the wheel.

However, running costs are fairly low and the level of kit is good for the price of the hatchback.

PROS:  Effortless driving, minimum body roll and a competitive price. The Seat Ibiza SE Copa 1.4 16v 5dr comes in the shape of a nippy supermini that won’t break the bank.

CONS:  Noisy, lacks power and the engines haven’t been injected with the same standard of styling that the exterior has.

Behind the Wheel

The Seat Ibiza SE Copa 1.4 16v 5dr is comfortable but noisy. The 1.4 performs a little better on the open road in comparison to the 1.2 and still offers plenty of grip. It also tackles corners without too much body roll.

In terms of power, the Seat Ibiza SE Copa 1.4 16v 5dr has a top speed of 110 mph and the small 1390 cc engine produces 97 lb-ft torque power at 3800 rpm and 84 bhp at 5000 prm. The hatchback reaches 0-62 mph in 11.8 seconds.

Looks & Equipment

The materials inside the Seat Ibiza SE Copa 1.4 16v 5dr are more hardwearing than they are luxurious.

All models come with buttons on the steering column, which control the MP3 and CD player. On top of this, the Seat Ibiza S Copa 1.2 12v 5dr has electric windows, alloy wheels, electric door mirrors, air conditioning and cruise control. Metallic paint, Bluetooth and rear-parking sensors come as optional extras.

Practicality, Safety & Reliability

The Seat Ibiza SE Copa 1.4 16v 5dr comes fitted as standard with driver, passenger and front side airbags as well as central locking, an alarm and immobiliser.

The interior of the Seat Ibiza SE Copa 1.4 16v 5dr offers plenty of space in the front but minimal legroom in the rear. The driver is able to adjust the seat to his or her preferences and there is ample headroom available.

The boot offers plenty of space and the 60/40 split rear seats fold back easily, which creates even more space. The boot expands from 292 litres to 554 litres with the seats down.

The Seat Ibiza SE Copa 1.4 16v 5dr is a reliable hatchback and offers a 3-year warranty on 60,000 miles.

Value for Money

The Ibiza hatchback is priced at £12,805 and the car tends to hold its value pretty well.

The engine offers fairly low emissions of 139 g/km and a combined average of 47.9 mpg. The running costs should therefore be low and the hatchback is good value for money overall. The kit level is good and the practicality of the hatch is high for city driving. Although the refinement is not great, the performance of the hatch is great for the price of the model.
