Based on Renault's Twingo city car, the Wind GT Line 1.2 TCe 100 comes with Renault's excellent 1.2-litre petrol engine which offers good performance figures and excellent fuel efficiency. It's only a two seater so it's not the most practical car in the world but if you're looking for a good-looking roadster, it's a fine choice.

PROS:  The Wind looks great, is fun to drive and comes with a good range of standard equipment.

CONS:  It's not particularly practical and the Volkswagen Eos offers a sharper drive.

Behind the Wheel

The Wind is fitted with a 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine which develops 100bhp and 112lb-ft of torque. This translates into a 0-62mph time of 10.5 seconds and a top speed of 118mph. It's not exactly the fastest car in the world but it feels agile and nippy.

The handling is excellent thanks to a superb chassis and quick, precise steering. There's plenty of grip on offer too and the Wind is an excellent car to drive.

The Wind isn't particularly refined, roof up or roof down, and there is a lot of wind noise at high speeds.

Looks & Equipment

The Wind is a stylish convertible which smooth, curvaceous lines and an attractive front end. Its exterior appearance is enhanced with gloss black door mirrors, a rear spoiler and 17 inch alloy wheels.

The style is continued inside the cabin, with high-quality materials used throughout and neatly arranged instruments.

In terms of equipment, the model comes as standard with electric windows and door mirrors, cruise control, CD player with MP3 connectivity, Bluetooth connectivity and leather upholstery.

Practicality, Safety & Reliability

Practicality for the Renault Wind is not great, as there are only two seats. The boot is actually quite large for a roadster but it is still small with just 270-litres on offer.

In terms of safety, the car is equipped with four airbags to help keep all occupants protected, plus stability control and ABS. Deadlocks and an immobiliser are both provided to help keep things secure.

It's too early to predict how reliable the Wind will be but renault have been upping their games in this area. The Wind is supplied with a 3 year/100,000 mile warranty.

Value for Money

At £13,895, the Renault Wind GT Line 1.2 TCe 100 2dr is priced competitively, especially considering the range of equipment that comes as standard. The model will evidently not work as a family car, but provides good passenger room and boot space for a convertible.

In terms of fuel economy the car performs on average at 44.8mpg with CO2 emissions of 145g/km. These figures are impressive for the class. Overall, the Wind represents decent value for money.
