PROS: Strong performance credentials make this the ideal coupe for those who want to stand out from the crowd.
CONS: Fuel efficiency and carbon emissions are not great and this means this model can be relatively expensive to keep on the road.
The four cylinder engine delivers a more than adequate power output of 211 bhp at 6000 rpm with torque figures of 192 lb-ft at 1850-5600 rpm. An impressive top speed of 149 mph is more than sufficient for a car of this class and combines with rapid acceleration speeds which allow the car to reach 0-62 mph in just 6.4 seconds.
In terms of noise disruption, there is a fair amount of sound within the cabin due to excessive wind and road noise. This petrol engine adds a little noise to this but sounds great when worked hard. In terms of efficiency, this engine performs fairly well for a sports car - it achieves just 39.8 mpg on a combined cycle.
In terms of in-car kit, this vehicle comes with a good supply of basic equipment. The standard equipment includes: power steering, central locking, stability control, alloy wheels, air conditioning, electric windows, electric door mirrors, rear parking sensors, cruise control and an advanced stereo system with CD and MP3 compatibility.
Some luxuries are only available for an additional charge and that means the car could become an expensive option.
Bluetooth connectivity costs £295 with a built-in sat nav system priced at £1,345 whilst a leather seated interior costs £775. On top of this, a metallic paint finish can be added for £340 and air conditioning can be upgraded to climate control for an extra £235.
For a coupe, this model is fairly practical; there is plenty of room and adjustment for the driver and passenger. Both the seats and the steering column are adjustable for a range of movement and this means that driving positions are comfortable.
The interior dashboard, whilst stylish, is difficult to navigate with practicality having been sacrificed for style. On top of this some of the materials look and feel a little cheap whilst others are the height of luxury, making the interior a real area of contrast. The boot offers a modest 280 litres of storage capacity which is ideal for a car of this class.
As a well-known brand, reliability is expected to be high and the Mini Cooper Coupe comes with a three year warranty on unlimited miles to give customers additional assurance.
Safety levels are also high with this model due to an advanced safety kit. This includes standard fittings such as driver, passenger and front side airbags. An alarm and immobiliser has also been fitted to deter thieves.
Priced at £23,795 this car is more expensive than some of the other models in the Mini Coupe range. However, the price is still fairly reasonable compared to similar rivals and its strong resale values mean it could be a wise investment.
Insurance premiums fall under insurance group 32 and the car comes under road tax band G due to its carbon emissions of 165 g/km.
