What the Maserati GranTurismo MC Stradale lacks in precision compared to rivals which offer more clinical control, it makes up for by being a much easier car to live with and to drive on a daily basis.

The soft curves and low front grille also give the car a distinctive character and plenty of personality.

PROS:  With three distinct driving modes - the Auto and Sport modes Maserati fans will be familiar with from the previous GranTurismo S model - as well as an all new 'Race' mode for the highest performance yet, Maserati have succeeded in their mission to create a sports car which is also perfectly suited for day-to-day road use with the MC Stradale.

CONS:  Whilst the Maserati GranTurismo MC Stradale does well to balance high performance with greater affordability than its rivals, and to balance sports car performance at the higher end with easy driveability at the lower end, this can make it feel like a bit of a compromise. It will be hard for this car to compete with strong rivals such as the Porsche 911 GT3 RS and Audi R8 GT.

Behind the Wheel

The Maserati GranTurismo MC Stradale aims to offer drivers the potential for sport car performance, but with a more comfortable driving experience when you don't feel liking pushing it - and it succeeds in doing that.

With a V8, 32 valve, 4691cc engine the Stradale produces 442bhp at 7000rpm with a torque of 376lb-ft at 4750rpm. This allows for a top speed of 187mph and enables acceleration from 0-62mph in a time of 4.6 seconds.

At low speeds the Stradale is placed in auto to make things easy with smooth, automatic gear changes. To ramp things up a bit you can put the car into Sport mode to activate the 6-speed manual transmission. This also sharpens the throttle response and opens tailpipe vales when you go over 4000rpm, as well as deactivating the exhaust muffler for a true sports car sound. And if you really want to open her up just push a button to go into race mode for 60ms automated gear changes.

The Stradale sticks to the road well, and although the handling is not as refined as some higher spec sports cars and you cannot forget that this is a relatively large car, it still handles well enough to make for an exciting drive.

Looks & Equipment

With its soft curves the Maserati GranTurismo MC Stradale has an understated kind of elegance to it, and bags of personality.

With MSP stability control, cruise control and climate control as well as rear parking sensors, a good quality sound system, full set of airbags plus an immobiliser and more all fitted as standard you also get plenty of on-board equipment.

Practicality, Safety & Reliability

Despite the relatively large size the Stradale is still just a 2-seater, but in terms of practicality this really is the only major downside.

The car has a fuel consumption of 19.6mpg and CO2 emissions of 337g/km - not great to be sure but not far off what you would expect.

You get 320-litres of storage space in the boot and it comes with a 3 year unlimited mile warranty.

Value for Money

At £110,045 the Maserati GranTurismo MC Stradale, which is the lightest, fastest, most powerful car in the Maserati range, is not cheap to buy. But it's a high-end Grand Tourer that is easy to live with.
