PROS: This car is well equipped with exciting features that reflect the advances in technological development. Not only does this vehicle tick all of the right boxes in terms of safety and security with airbags in the three key areas and central locking and an alarm as standard, but it also has plenty of other features which enhance comfort and practicality.
CONS: This car falls in to the mid range category of insurance group 24, which is likely to be particularly costly for drivers. Its CO2 emissions are extremely damaging to the environment at 234g/km, which has led it to be classed under a high road tax band: L. Fuel efficiency is also poor.
The Ford Kuga 2.5T Titanium X 5dr can reach a top speed of 130 mph, which is quite fast for a four-wheel drive. It is also quite quick off the mark as it is able to reach 62 mph from 0 mph in an exhilarating 8.2 seconds.
The handling offers comfort and control but the steering is a little slow and the response is delayed, thus affecting the overall quality of the drive. The four wheel drive gets good traction on the road but the two wheel options are better for city driving as they feel lighter and more agile.
The engine is also well refined, keeping noise infiltration within the cabin to a minimum.
The car comes with a great range of features over the standard model, with electric front windows, electric door mirrors, Bluetooth, MP3 connectivity, power steering and central locking just a few of the standard fittings.
Of course, some features are still only available for an extra cost with a built-in sat nav priced at £1,050 and rear-parking sensors costing £450.
Overall the level of kit offered is higher than in other models within this range but this is clearly reflected in the purchase price of the model.
In terms of security, the car comes with a great range of features. Central locking and a fitted alarm help to protect the car from theft whilst airbags fitted in all of the major areas mean that occupants will be protected from harm in the event of an accident.
The car is covered under warranty for three years, or up to 60,000 miles. This provides the assurances drivers need to increase their confidence in the model.
The car has reasonable boot space, which is an important factor for families. The cabin also offers a good supply of room with adjustment available within the seats to increase comfort. As for the boot, there is 1,355 litres of free space on offer when the rear seats are folded down and 360 litres still available when they are in position.
This car comes well equipped with standard features across the models range, which will please both drivers and passengers. However, this car is expensive to purchase at £28,995 and buyers may be concerned by the high running costs likely to be incurred as the car achieves just 28.5 mpg on a combined cycle.
The cost of road tax is also going to be expensive as a result of the car's CO2 emissions of 234 g/km and costs fall under band L. Insuranace premiums fall under price bracket 24 which is also a little high.
