The C6 is the sixth generation model in the Chevrolet Corvette series. The sports car has been in production since 2004 and is available as a 2-door coupe or 2-door convertible. When it was released as the successor to the Corvette C5 it had been completely redesigned and restyled.

Corvette C6 Overview
Not only is the exterior body shape different, the 6.2 litre V8 engine delivers a more refined ride and enables the car to accelerate from 0 – 62mph in just 4.3 seconds. It has a 6-speed automatic transmission and also boasts an improved top speed of 186mph.
The model was revised in 2008 to incorporate the 6.2 litre engine (it was equipped with a 6 litre engine prior to this) and steering was improved for all-round better handling.
Background
The Chevrolet Corvette has been in production since 1953. The first generation was produced up until 1962.
The C2 featured a revised exterior and was faster than its predecessor. It was made until 1967.
The third generation Corvette C3, produced between 1968 and 1982, again sported a restyled body shape and a new engine. The convertible model was discontinued in 1975.
The convertible was brought back to the line-up as a fourth generation model in 1986. The interior was more stylish and the framework had been modified. A special 40th Anniversary Edition of the car was released in 1993.
The fifth generation model was first produced in 1997. The C5 was initially available only as a coupe. It had a top speed of 181mph.
The sixth and current generation Corvette C6 has been in production since 2005. It was completely redesigned and restyled from the exterior body shape to the interior cabin space.
