This is the new 560bhp Volkswagen Beetle rallycross car which Volkswagen will be using to compete in this year's Global Rallycross Championship (GRC).
Unveiled at the Chicago Motor Show, the GRC Beetle will be VW Andretti Autosport's entrant in the rallycross championship for the second half of the season and will make its debut at the Summer X Games extreme sports event in Austin, Texas, in June.
During the first half of the season the team will be competing with modified Volkswagen Polo rally cars which are based on the models used in last year's World Rally Championship, before switching over to the GRC Beetle.
Powered by a 2.0-litre TSI engine developing 560bhp, the GRC Beetle features four-wheel drive and will be driven in the series by Top Gear USA presenter Tanner Foust and ex-Formula One driver Scott Speed.
Foust's car will be painted in the colours of the Rockstar energy drink, while Speed's Beetle will be finished in a rather fetching 7-Up livery, which reminds us of Jordan's first ever Formula One car, the 191, in which a certain Michael Schumacher made his F1 debut.
The Global Rallycross Championship will kick off at the Top Gear Festival in Barbados on 18 May.
