Toyota has released the latest official photos of the new FT-86 Open concept ahead of the car's debut at the Tokyo Motor Show next week.

Although the FT-86 concept has already been on show at the Geneva Motor Show and the Goodwood Festival of Speed, this is the first time we've seen the car with its canvas roof up, hinting that a production version of the car could soon be available.

Toyota will use the Tokyo Motor Show to gauge the public's reaction to the car and if it's successful, we could see an open-top version of the GT86 on Toyota forecourts fairly soon.

On the outside, the FT-86 gets a new paint colour -- Flash Red -- grey door handles, grey wing mirrors and a grey windscreen surround. On the inside there are white seats with red carpets matching the exterior colour.

Mechanically, the FT-86 is expected to be identical to the GT86, with a 2.0-litre boxer engine sending 197bhp to the rear wheels through a six-speed manual gearbox.
