Toyota has revealed a sketch of a new drop-top version of its GT 86 sports car, ahead of its debut at the Geneva Motor Show in March.
The GT 86 convertible will be previewed in Geneva by a new concept called the FT-86 Open, but this sketch reveals that the concept will follow the styling of the GT 86 coupe very closely. The roof is likely to be a folding cloth-based design rather than a metal folding roof.
The drop-top will be offered with the same 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine as the coupe, but because Toyota will have to add extra weight to strengthen the car, the 0-62mph time and top speed are likely to be slightly down on the coupe's.
Also on the Toyota stand at the Geneva show will be the Auris Touring Sports, a British-built estate version of the Auris, along with the new fourth-generation RAV4.
Toyota will also reveal its i-Road concept, which the Japanese manufacturer describes as "a compact, fun and emissions-free personal mobility concept, designed to offer quick and efficient urban transport for two people."
The Geneva Motor Show will run from 7 to 17 March.
