The new 64 plates have led to a bumper month for car sales and we can reveal the ten most popular models.
September 2014 saw a total of 425,861 new cars being registered across the UK, this comes as a hefty proportion of the 1,958,196 new car sales since the beginning of 2014. Compared with September of last year, this represents a 5.6% improvement in sales; this increase was however not as strong as that of the previous plate change in March when a boost of 18% was registered.
The best selling cars of September 2014 and their respective sales figures are as follows:
1 Ford Fiesta - sales of 23,266
2 Ford Focus - sales of 13,508
3 Volkswagen Golf - sales of 13,011
4 Vauxhall Corsa - sales of 12,506
5 Volkswagen Polo - sales of 10,312
6 Fiat 500 - sales of 9,122
7 Vauxhall Astra - sales of 8,861
8 Audi A3 – sales of 7,317
9 Peugeot 208 – sales of 6,968
10 Nissan Qashqai – sales of 6,847
