Renault has introduced a new ownership scheme for two of its most popular electric vehicles as it attempts to make zero emissions motoring more accessible to UK customers.

As a result, the Renault ZOE i and the Kangoo Van Z.E. i are now available for ‘Full Purchase’, where customers take full ownership of the vehicle and battery, as well as the existing buy-the-car hire-the-battery scheme.  Full ownership is available via a range of tailored packages, while those choosing to stick with battery hire are not left out with Renault announcing lower monthly rates on its ZOE supermini and Kangoo Van Z.E.
The ZOE range is available in Expression, Dynamique Zen, and Dynamique Intens trim levels, while the Kangoo Van Z.E. comes in Van, Maxi, Crew Van, and Maxi Crew Van variants.  With the Government’s Plug-in Car Grant, the full purchase ZOE i is available from £18,443 on-the-road compared to £13,995 for the battery lease option, while the Kangoo Van i can be purchased in full from £16,161 + VAT, or from £12,995 if the battery is leased.  On full purchase, both models benefit from a five-year, 60,000-mile on the batteries in addition to the standard Renault vehicle protection of four-years/100,000-miles, guaranteeing at least two-thirds of the original battery performance over that time.
The latest special offer on battery hire sees monthly rates for the ZOE fall from £45 to £25, while for the Kangoo Van Z.E. battery hire is now available from £33 + VAT per month, down from £61 + VAT per month.  Battery hire comes with a Lifetime Performance Guarantee, which includes repair or replacement if performance falls below 75 per cent as well as roadside recovery in the event of running out of charge between charging points.
“Renault was a pioneer in the EV (Electric Vehicle) market and has remained a leader by offering the best technology and at affordable prices,” said Renault UK Managing Director Ken Ramirez.
“The battery leasing scheme has proved popular with customers for the flexibility and lower purchase prices it offers.  The addition of full purchase versions on our core EV models will offer private and business customers a greater choice and further strengthen our position in the UK EV market.”
