Mitsubishi has launched its new CA-MiEV electric vehicle concept at the Geneva Motor Show.
The CA-MiEV follows on from the i-MiEV city car and is part of Mitsubishi's self-imposed goal of making 20 per cent of its model range electric by 2020.
Although just a concept at this stage, the CA-MiEV previews the next generation of Mitsubishi's electric city car, which will eventually replace the i-MiEV. The CA-MiEV is powered by a pack of high-density lithium-ion batteries which power a 107bhp electric motor.
The CA-MiEV is also fitted with a number of clever features designed to maximise the car's range. Traditional wing mirrors create aerodynamic drag, so Mitsubishi has fitted tiny rear-view cameras instead. The CA-MiEV also gets minimal air intakes, a rear diffuser and a totally flat underside -- all features which are designed to minimise drag.
As a result, Mitsubishi claims that the CA-MiEV has a range of 300km (186 miles).
As yet, there are no plans to put the CA-MiEV into production.
