Ford has released the first images of its new S-MAX concept which is set to go on show at the Frankfurt Motor Show next month.
The concept gives an idea of what the next-generation S-MAX could look like when it goes into production late next year, replacing the current car which has been in production since 2006.
As you can see, the new car bears little more than a slight resemblance to the current model, featuring styling similar to the latest Fiesta and the forthcoming Mondeo, and is fitted with Ford's Aston Martin-style trapezoidal grille.
Under the bonnet the S-MAX will be available with the new turbocharged 1.5-litre EcoBoost petrol unit. Ford has yet to confirm the entire engine line-up but it seems likely that the S-MAX will be offered with the firm's 1.6- and 2.0-litre diesel units, with a six-speed manual gearbox available as standard and a six-speed double-clutch automatic offered as an option.
On the inside, the S-MAX features a clean, uncluttered dashboard with fewer buttons and a large central infotainment screen.
We'll have to wait until Frankfurt to find out more about the Ford S-MAX concept and it won't be until 2015 that you'll see the production version on dealer forecourts.
