Here's a quick fact for you: in 2012, the Nissan Qashqai was Britain's sixth-bestselling car. And it really isn't difficult to see why.

The Qashqai is quite simply a brilliant family car. It's spacious, good to drive, comfortable, refined and, in 1.6-litre diesel form, very cheap to run too.

On top of this, the Qashqai is well-built enough to withstand a direct hit from three five-year-olds, it's relatively cheap to buy and if you opt for the slightly larger Qashqai+2, it'll carry five adults and two children in comfort.

Nissan handover

Sam Hardy, Product Communications Manager at Nissan, receives the award from CarSite Head of Online Advertising Christian Long

There really are very few cars on the market at the moment that fulfil the brief for a family car quite as comprehensively as the Qashqai. It really is an excellent all-rounder.

Oh, and to top it all off, it's made in Britain.
