Despite its van origins, the Expert Tepee Comfort L2 5/6 Seats HDi 130 is a reasonably priced and practical way of moving around six people. However, Peugeot don't have the best reputation when it comes to reliability and some of the interior plastics feel cheap. Ultimately, there are better options out there.

PROS:  Good diesel engine, masses of interior space

CONS:  Ugly van-like appearance, quality is lacking, lack of standard equipment

Behind the Wheel

The 2.0-litre diesel engine in the Expert Tepee Comfort L2 5/6 Seats HDi 130 propels the car from 0-62mph in 13.6 seconds and on to a top speed of 106mph. You also get plenty of torque - 236lb-ft - low down in the rev range which makes the Expert a capable performer. This is not a fast car but you won't make a nuisance of yourself on fast roads either.

The handling is fine for a car of this size thanks to precise steering and relatively good body control through the bends. The ride is also surprisingly composed considering the car's van underpinnings.

Looks & Equipment

Oh dear. If you fancy a car that looks like a van with windows then the Expert Tepee may be the car for you. Peugeot have tried to improve the external styling with a few stylish little tweaks but it hasn't really worked - the Expert Tepee is an ugly car.

You don't even get a lot of standard kit for your money - you get electric front windows and a CD player and that's it. Air-con will cost you £990, alloy wheels £480, electric mirrors £170, parking sensors £410, sat-nav £795 and MP3 connectivity and Bluetooth are £210 for the pair.

Practicality, Safety & Reliability

You get a driver airbag as standard but both passenger and side airbags are optional extras. This really isn't good enough in this day and age.

On the plus side there is plenty of luggage space and the boot holds an impressive 1400-litres with the rear seats up and 2,814-litres with the seats down.

Peugeot have a pretty dodgy reputation when it comes to reliability but the Expert Tepee is supplied with a 3 year/60,000 mile warranty.

Value for Money

At £24,245, the Expert Tepee is not really cheap enough to seem like good value - for an extra £400 you can get an entry level Ford Galaxy which is better in almost every way.

The running costs won't even be all that low. You'll struggle to top 40mpg and CO2 emissions of 185g/km put the Expert Tepee under VED band I.
