CarSite Verdict:  2.5/5
The 207 is getting a bit long in the tooth and is outclassed by nearly all of its rivals. It's still fairly good to drive and offers relatively good value for money but you'd be well advised to wait until the 208 comes out later this year.

PROS:  Decent level of standard kit. Good looking.

CONS:  Tight rear legroom. Poor refinement.

Behind the Wheel

The 207 Active 1.6 VTi Automatic has a 1.6 litre engine which produces 120 bhp with 120 lb-ft of torque. This gives the car an impressive top speed of 122 mph whilst accelerating from 0-62 mph takes a fairly pedestrian 12.7 seconds.

The engine runs relatively smoothly and noise disturbance is limited. However, noise from the wind and road can infiltrate the cabin and poor suspension makes the model a little uncomfortable for both drivers and passengers.

The 207 offers effortless driving which is supple and well-controlled. The steering is light at low speed but weights up as the speed is increased and the car changes the direction eagerly.

Looks & Equipment

The 207 Active come equipped with features like air conditioning and Bluetooth and basics such as power steering, electric front windows, remote central locking and alloy wheels.

The 207 is a good looking car and has a reasonably stylish cabin with plenty of soft-touch plastics and metallic inserts.

Practicality, Safety & Reliability

The Peugeot 207 Active offers ample space to the passengers and drivers alongside an adequate boot. Being a small family car, this is the feature which is looked for most and makes this a great option. The only downside is that rear legroom is tight but then this is something which is expected for a car of this class.

The 207 has passenger airbags, front side airbags and driver airbag all fitted as standard as well as a three point centre belt system.

The 207 Active 1.6 VTi Automatic suffers from questionable reliability and performed badly in the 2011 JD Power customer satisfaction survey. In this survey the range finished 14th for its class and had its mechanical reliability rated as below average.

Value for Money

Priced at £13,845 this car is fairly reasonable considering its class and the range of features on offer. Fuel efficiency totals just 42.2 mpg on the combined cycle which, whilst not terrible, is not quite good enough by today's standards. Green credentials are also relatively poor with the car emitting 155g/km of carbon dioxide, placing it into road tax band G.
