Jeep Overview
Brief History
During the Second World War Willys-Overland, an American automobile manufacturer, placed the winning bid to manufacture Jeeps for the United States Army, after demonstrating their vehicle's off-road capability by having it drive up the steps of the United States Capitol in 1941.
Since World War II, Jeep has taken many forms and is no longer exclusive to military use. In 1953, the Jeep brand was sold to Kaiser and later became Kaiser-Jeep in 1963. American Motors bought the Jeep Company in 1970. The American Motors Company was then purchased by the Chrysler Corporation in 1987, and Chrysler then merged with Daimler-Benz in 1998 forming DaimlerChrysler. The parent company of Jeep is now a division of the Chrysler Group LLC, which is a subsidiary of the Italian company, Fiat.
Jeep advertising has always emphasised the vehicle's off-road capabilities. Today, the Wrangler is one of the few remaining four-wheel-drive vehicles with solid front and rear axles. These axles are known for their durability, strength, and articulation. Jeeps are built with large tyres which allow them to travel over large and difficult objects.

The current model, the WK2, has been on sale since 2010. Like the previous generations, the chassis is steel uniframe, and a new 4 wheel independent suspension has been introduced for better on-road handling. For better engine performance and more economical fuel consumption, users should choose the diesel option.
