This car is well equipped with safety features, and a few convenient extras to please both driver and passengers. It is also cheap to run at 47.1 mpg and is a spacious family vehicle being able to seat five occupants comfortably.

PROS:  This car is not going to be expensive to run as on average the car can deliver 47.1mpg. It is exceptionally fast taking 8.1 seconds to travel from 0-62mph. The car comes well equipped with MP3 connectivity and Bluetooth as standard features and in terms of safety this vehicle ticks all of the boxes making it a great car.

CONS:  The car is not the most environmentally friendly on the market as it produces 159 g/km of CO2 emissions. Drivers will have to pay out additional costs on top of the purchase price of the car for extras such as satellite navigation, leather seats, metallic paint and rear parking sensors. Air conditioning is not included with this vehicle, which for a family car could prove to be a problem throughout the summer months. It also falls in to road tax band G, which is mid-range and quite expensive.

Behind the Wheel

The Ford Mondeo 2.2 TDCi (200ps) Titanium 5dr can reach a top speed of 143 mph, which is particularly good for a large family car. It is also exceptionally quick as it is able to reach 62 mph from rest in an exhilarating 8.1 seconds.

The car has a power output of 197 bhp and is fairly refined, offering good efficiency and generating little noise when running.

Looks & Equipment

The interior of the car can have added comfort and luxury as owners have the option to purchase leather seats for an additional £1,550. The car does come with exciting extras such as MP3 connectivity and Bluetooth at no extra cost making in car entertainment all the more pleasing. Cruise control is another standard feature that will make long journeys more smooth and comfortable.

Air conditioning is not available with this model, but climate control features in the vehicle. Electric front windows and electric door mirrors are standard, which is more convenient for drivers and passengers.

Satellite navigation is also available but this will cost drivers £1,000, and rear-parking sensors will also cost £450 but could be worthwhile if it prevents scratches in the future.

The car is concerned with occupant protection. Airbags are fitted as standard in the three key areas; for the driver, passenger as well as front side airbags to give maximum safety in the event of an accident.

Practicality, Safety & Reliability

The car has a good amount boot space, which is perhaps more important for families. When the rear seats are folded there is 1,448 litres of free space and when the seats are up there is still 528 litres to fill with belongings.

In terms of security, the car is well secured as the car has central locking as standard and an alarm is also fitted. Both of these standard features protect the car when it is left unattended and give owners good levels of protection on their vehicle.

The car is covered under warranty for three years, or up to 60,000 miles. This provides peace of mind for divers to know that throughout this duration there car is covered and means reliability should not be an issue.

Value for Money

This car is well equipped with convenient extras, and can have added style for drivers that wish to invest in some additional features. The car is expensive to buy at £24,195 but the low running costs could be worthwhile as the car can perform at 47.1 mpg and has fairly reasonable carbon emissions of just 159 g/km.
