Hyundai is a car manufacturer based in South Korea where it operates the world's largest car plant which has an annual production capacity of 1.6 million vehicles. It is well known for its well made and reliable cars, plus in the UK, for a five-year warranty. The Hyundai Tucson is one of its most popular cars and one of the best family SUVs on the market. You can read more Hyundai reviews here.

In 1947, Chung Ju-Yung founded the Hyundai Engineering and Construction Company. It was not until 20 years later that the Hyundai Motor Company was founded in 1967.

The company's first model, the Cortina, was released in cooperation with Ford in 1968. After relative success, by 1974 it was able to design its own model, with the help of Mitsubishi. Hyundai soon rose to first place in the Korean domestic market and quickly became the largest Korean auto maker. A status it still enjoys today.

By 1990, Hyundai was exporting over one million cars a year to 190 countries throughout the world. In 1994 it involved itself with professional motor sports winning the Asian Pacific Rally Championship, which it retained in 1995 with a Hyundai Elantra. These victories, along with a partnership with Daimler-Chrysler, heavily influenced its designs and won it praise in the International Motor Press.

Hyundai is now a leading exponent of electric cars with the likes of the Hyundai Ioniq 5 proving popular. It also owns Kia, with Hyundai and Kia models sharing parts and technology.
