A few weeks ago we told you about the new Jaguar XKR-S GT, Jaguar's fastest ever road car. But now we've decided to bring you news about another 'hot' Jaguar.
A new London skyscraper has been blamed for reflecting light onto parked cars... and melting them.
The new £200m development at 20 Fenchurch Street, dubbed the "Walkie Talkie" because of its distinctive concave shaper, is reflecting blinding rays of light onto the street below, damaging cars parked in the path of the light.
Martin Lindsay parked his Jaguar XF on Eastcheap, several streets away from the new skyscraper and, on his return, found that the light reflected from the building had melted some of the plastic parts of his Jag.
Parts of the bodywork including the wing mirrors and door pillars were scorched by the powerful rays reflected off the building, despite the fact that the car had been parked there for just an hour.
Mr Lindsay's car was not the only one to receive damage; the owner of a Vauxhall Vivaro van also reportedly returned to his vehicle after leaving it parked to find a melted dashboard and a twisted bottle of Lucozade in the cabin.
The building's concave shape concentrates the sun's rays into a small area
The developers of the building have announced that they are investigating the phenomenon and have agreed to pay for the damage to Mr Lindsay's car. Meanwhile the City of London has suspended three parking bays in the area which are believed to be affected.
