This is the moment a light aircraft crashed into a Volvo XC90 at an airport outside Dallas, Texas.

The accident happened on Saturday at Northwest Regional Airport when a plane which was coming in to land struck the Volvo as it was crossing the runway. The wheels of the plane clipped the roof of the 4x4, causing one wheel to fly off and nearly tipping the car.

The pilot, William Davis, was practicing to earn his pilot's licence, and the incident was recorded on camera by his wife.

Luckily, neither the pilot nor the occupants of the car were injured in the crash.

Although it is permitted for passenger vehicles to cross the runway at Northwest Regional Airport, the responsibility lies with the car driver to ensure that the coast is clear. The female driver of the Volvo later claimed that she did not see the aeroplane coming.

Davis has reportedly given up learning to fly after his close call.
