It's every motorist's worst nightmare. You peel back your curtains in the morning only to find an empty void on your drive where your pride and joy used to be.

You rack your brains. Did I leave the car somewhere else last night? Did I park it on the road? Maybe I had a few pints at the pub and walked home? Then the sickening truth dawns on you. I did park it on the drive and now it's gone.

Stolen vehicle recovery (SVR) experts Tracker have revealed a list of the top 10 most stolen cars in the UK in 2012 and subsequently recovered thanks to its telematics system. The figures aren't an accurate representation of the most stolen cars in the UK as they only take into account cars recovered using the Tracker system; however, they do give an indication of which cars are favoured by car thieves.
