Here at Chez CarSite we love the DeLorean DMC-12.

Which is why we were delighted to see that an American eccentric has decided to turn the automotive star of the Back to the Future films into a hovercraft.

In April 2010, Matthew Riese set up a Kickstarter project to fund his ambition to build a water-going version of the DeLorean. Two years later, having raised over $5,000 to bankroll his dream, his creation is complete.

The DeLorean hovercraft is based upon a popular kit hovercraft, and the body is made mostly from fibreglass. Unfortunately, the hovercraft has a top speed of just 45mph, so going back to 1955 is out of the question.
