Motor Codes has named the top 20 most trusted garages in Britain, based on the results of its 'Garage of the Year' competition.

Drivers across the nation had total freedom to choose their most trusted garages in the unique competition. The initial voting for the 'Top 100 UK garages' took place between 6th April and 22nd April, and the contest is now in its final stage.

This final phase will last until 6th May and the overall winner will be chosen on 14th May.

"It's clear to see from the tremendous level of support for the competition - we received double the number of votes compared to last year - that motorists value simple, good old fashioned customer service," said Motor Codes' Managing Director, Chris Mason.

Small garages

The ten garages competing within the 'Best small garage' category are Kings Of Witcham Ltd (East of England), Church Road Garage (Midlands), Cavendish Motor Company (North East), ABP Motorsport (North West), The Motor Gym (Northern Ireland), Firstdrive Cars (Scotland), MOT City (South East), Car Care Tetbury (South West), A1 Motorcare Ltd (Wales) and Lowfield Garage (Yorkshire).

Large garages

Likewise, the top ten garages to be voted within the large garage category are Roy Tolley Ltd Citroen (East of England), Independent Automotive UK Ltd (Midlands), Sherwoods Vauxhall Stockton-on-Tees (North East), Polar Ford St Helens (North West), SERE Lisburn SEAT (Northern Ireland), Helensburgh Toyota (Scotland), The Test Centre (South East), Brunel Ford Weston-Super-Mare (South West), FRF Toyota Swansea (Wales) and Reynolds of Selby (Yorkshire).

Mason explained the benefits of the competition:

"The car service and repair business is a two-way relationship, with word of mouth important for garages and consumer confidence. Garage of the Year gives people a formal way of showing their appreciation, at the same time as letting other motorists know where to find the garage good guys."
