For one day each year, dozens of car manufacturers descend upon Millbrook Proving Ground in Bedfordshire to let motoring journos from around the country test their latest models.
The event, which is organised by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT), plays host to literally hundreds of cars, all of which can be taken out and tested on Millbrook's fearsome testing facilities.
Even if you've never been to Millbrook, you've almost certainly seen it on telly. Located just off the M1 near Milton Keynes, Millbrook is where James Bond rolled his Aston Martin DBS in Casino Royale. It's also where Top Gear set a lorry on fire and tested their convertible Renault Espace.
Millbrook boasts over 50 miles of test track, including a challenging Alpine hill-route, designed to test the handling of cars to the raggedy edge, and a sweeping two-mile banked bowl, on which it's possible to achieve some rather rapid top speeds.
We were in attendance at yesterday's event and managed to have a thrash around in a range of new models -- although, annoyingly, my youth precluded me from driving the more faster and more expensive stuff -- and we took a few snaps while we were there.
