This is the Skoda VisionC concept, which has made its world debut at the Geneva Motor Show.

The VisionC previews a new five-door coupe which, if it makes it into production, will slot into the Skoda range above the Octavia but below the Superb, providing the Czech company with a rival for the likes of the Mercedes CLS, the Audi A5 Sportback and the new BMW 4 Series Gran Coupe.

Based on Volkswagen’s MQB architecture, the VisionC concept is powered by a 1.4-litre TSI engine which can run either on petrol or compressed natural gas. Although no official figures have yet been collated, computer simulations suggest that the engine could return 72mpg and 91g/km of CO2 when powered by natural gas.

In addition to this, many of the VisionC’s design features, such as its sharply-sculpted lines, distinctive chrome grille and high tornado line, are destined to become hallmark features of Skoda’s future model range.
