Peugeot are celebrating the results of a study which places them top amongst European manufacturers for reliability.

The study by Warranty Direct - the UK's first direct consumer warranty firm - found that the Peugeot 207 had an incidence rate of just 6%, making it the most reliable model made by a European firm. In comparison, the second placed Fiat Panda had a 14% repair rate.

The analysis of over 20,000 live policies on three to seven year old cars also revealed that the Peugeot 206CC and 107 models featured in the top ten list of most reliable European cars. The research was conducted by Warranty Direct analysing its own Reliability Index for rates of failure, average mileage, age and repair costs, with the information used to evaluate a car's overall reliability and running costs.
