Lexus has launched its new CT 200h - the world's first luxury full hybrid hatchback.
The CT 200h will be up against stiff competition from BMW, Audi and VW in the premium compact segment but the car's 94g/km CO2 figures may be enough to tempt buyers away from the German opposition.
Exemption from VED and the London Congestion Charge are just two of the benefits of sub-100g/km motoring and a claimed 68.9mpg should keep fuel bills low as well. The CT 200h, however, is clearly aimed squarely at the company car market. The Lexus hybrid will attract the lowest 10% rating for company car tax and fleet buyers will benefit from reduced costs as well. The CT 200h should be cheap to keep on the road; the battery is designed to last the lifetime of the car and service intervals are a reasonable 10,000 miles.
The base CT SE-I models will be available with 16/17 inch alloys, dual-zone climate control, LED daytime running lights, fog lights, rain sensing wipers, privacy glass, USB port and push button start. Upgrading to the intermediate SE-L gets you leather seats, heated front seats, and front and rear parking sensors. The top-of-the-range SE-L Premier includes, amongst other things, a Mark Levinson 12-speaker audio system, HDD Sat-Nav, rear parking monitor, LED headlights and electric front seat adjustment.
Prices start from £23,485, rising to £30,635 for a top-of-the range SE-L Premier.
