A US motorist has miraculously escaped without sustaining any serious injuries after driving over a 40ft cliff.

Unsurprisingly, local police are investigating whether the unnamed driver was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident. It seems a strong possibility given that he had already driven through a locked gate before his vehicle plunged over the edge of the rocky cliff face.

Incredibly, the man was able to get out of the car and looked to have escaped any serious injuries. His vehicle also appeared impressively unscathed, considering the size of the drop. The rear section took the brunt of the collision and it remained upright after impact.

Upon exiting the vehicle the driver began to get aggressive and initially refused any treatment from the emergency services. He was eventually airlifted to a local hospital however, where he was treated for minor injuries.
