Mitsubishi has today announced its plans for the 2011 Geneva Motor Show, including a new concept model.

A 12-strong line up will comprise of models already on sale in Europe, including the i-MiEV electric vehicle which has seen around 2,500 units shipped to Europe since production began in October, but Mitsubishi hope the star of their display will be its new concept car.

Called the Mitsubishi Concept Global Small, the company claim the design brief for the model was for it to be compact, affordable, and efficient. Equipped with reduced running resistance engines between 1.0 and 1.2-litres, and a regenerative braking system, it should produce sub-100g/km CO2 emissions. Other features of the Concept Global Small, of which Mitsubishi have also released a preview image, are styling that the company claims is designed to significantly cut down on aerodynamic resistance, as well weight-reduced components and next generation CVT gearbox.

The Concept Global Small will join its production stablemates on the Mitsubishi stand in Switzerland. The 81st Geneva International Motor Show will take place from 1st to 13th March at the city's Palexpo exhibition and conference complex.
