The 1 millionth Fiat 500 has rolled off the production line in Poland.

The Fiat 500, which is built in Poland and -- since 2011 -- Mexico, is currently sold in over 100 countries worldwide.

The millionth car was built in Poland and is a Lounge model with a 1.2-litre 68bhp engine.

Fiat's baby has been a sales phenomenon, holding a record 13.9% market share in Europe, and in 2009 alone it sold around 186,000 units. By contrast, the original 1957 500 from which the new car draws its inspiration took four years to reach 180,000 registrations. It went on to rack up sales of more than 3.4 million units before production ended in 1975.
