Mercedes Benz has revealed the price list for the new G-Class off-roader.

The new G-Class looks almost identical to the model it replaces, although Mercedes-Benz assures us that the new car features enhancements to its drivetrain, new safety technology, and a host of subtle aesthetic tweaks.

We all know that the G-Class is one of the world's most accomplished off-roaders; however, what exactly is new in the latest model?

How fast is the new Mercedes G-Class?

There are two G-Class models on offer -- the G 350 BlueTEC and the G 63 AMG.

The G 350 BlueTEC is fitted with a 3.0-litre V6 engine which develops 211bhp, propelling the car from 0-62mph in around 9 seconds and on to a top speed of 108mph. The G 63 AMG, on the other hand, comes with a 5.5-litre V8 which churns out 544bhp. 0-62mph should take just over 5 seconds and flat out you'll be doing north of 130mph.

What do you get for your money in the new G-Class?

Standard equipment includes LED daytime running lights, leather heated front and rear seats, 18-inch alloy wheels, electric folding and heated mirrors, Parktronic parking aid, and a Harman Kardon Logic 7 surround sound system.

G 63 AMG models also benefit from an AMG radiator grille, AMG wheel arch extensions, an AMG sports exhaust system, twin chrome exhaust pipes and 20-inch alloys in a Titanium Grey high-gloss finish.

Will the new G-Class be good off road?

Should be. Not only do you get permanent all-wheel drive, but the G-Class is also fitted with diff-locks, a four wheel Electronic Traction System (4ETS), and low-range gears.

Will the new G-Class be expensive to run?

Yes... yes it will. The official fuel economy figures are just 25.2mpg for the V6 and 20.5mpg for the V8 and, realistically, you'll have trouble matching these numbers. Couple this to high CO2 emissions -- the 350 emits 295g/km, the G 63 AMG 322g/km -- and the G-Class will be an expensive car to keep on the road.

How much does the new G-Class cost?

The G 350 is priced from £82,845, while the G 63 AMG will set you back £123,115.
