Last September we brought you the news that Lister, the iconic British sports car maker, was staging a comeback after a twenty-five year absence by building a replica of one of its most famous creations: the 1957 Lister 'Knobbly' Jaguar.
Lister Cars to return with 'Knobbly' replica
Now, four months on, the company has released the first official picture of the new car, along with some specification details and the price.
Ah yes, the price. We won't beat about the bush -- it's £259,000 for the road-going car and £249,000 for the racer. This is what is known in financial circles as A Lot Of Money; however, Lister is keen to point out that original Knobbly Jags are now selling for millions and that the new car offers something of a bargain.
The new Lister Jags will be fitted with the same Jaguar D-Type engine used in the original models. It's a 3.8-litre straight-six engine which in race spec will produce 330bhp and 295lb-ft of torque.
The power, combined with the car's low 787kg kerb weight, is enough to give the Knobbly a 0-60mph time of 4.3 seconds and a top speed of 181mph.
On top of this, every car will be individually crafted and tailored to suit the needs of the customer and production numbers will be extremely limited. If you want one you'll have to be fast too, as 50 per cent of this year's production run have already been sold.
The first examples will leave the company's Cambridgeshire factory in April.
