The Mazda MX-5 has been ranked the highest sports car by owners in the 2011 J.D. Power vehicle ownership satisfaction survey, the second time in as many years that the MX-5 has ranked first.

Over 17,000 motorists took part in the survey and it seems MX-5 owners were impressed with their cars' performance, handling, running costs, reliability and quality.

The MX-5 saw off competition from the VW Scirocco, Mercedes-Benz SLK and Audi TT to score a satisfaction rating of 82.4% - an increase on last year's score.

Peter Allibon, Sales Director of Mazda UK said, "Today, the Mazda MX-5 remains unrivalled as a rewarding sports car that can also be used for everyday motoring all year round."

Earlier this year, two special edition models of the soft-top Mazda were released, called the MX-5 Kendo. The special editions celebrate Mazda's 900,000 units sold worldwide including over 100,000 sold in the UK.
