For the second time in three years, the annual AM Magazine Awards ceremony has awarded Hyundai the prestigious accolade of Carmaker of the Year. But what makes industry experts and consumers lover Hyundai’s new cars so much?
The car maker won ahead of other competitive manufacturers such as Land Rover and Skoda.
The independent judging panel, led by AM’s Editor Jeremy Bennett, pointed out Hyundai’s constant growth in sales, its line-up of well-designed and generously equipped new models, and its range-spanning five-year warranty.
All that helped to place the car brand in on both customers’ and dealers’ wish-lists.
“Having overtaken many of its more established peers, Hyundai is, undeniably, now an established mainstream brand. Other volume manufacturers take note – Hyundai is a carmaker whose rise will be hard to contain,” said Bennett.
The AM’s Editor added that Hyundai won this award back in 2010 and it is a testament to its continued progress that it has been able to win it twice - only the second time any manufacturer has done so.
Hyundai UK President and CEO, Tony Whitehorn, said that receiving the award was a testament to how rapidly the company has progressed as a manufacturer and the positive strides Hyundai has made in the UK car industry in recent years.
“The launch of new and exciting products such as i40, Veloster and the New Generation i30 has signalled a step-change in terms of the quality of our products and there’s more exciting products still to come in the remainder of 2012,” stated Whitehorn.
On top of that award, Hyundai was also nominated in the New Car of the Year category for the stylish i40, which boasts fuel economy of 65.7mpg and CO2 emissions from just 113g/km, plus very low tax class.
