British artist Louise Dear has helped Alfa Romeo launch its new eco-friendly MiTo by giving it a striking new paint job.

Louise modelled her artwork on her 17 year old daughter and the finished piece ‘Because I Can’ was created onto the Alfa’s bodywork using an intricate process of layering paint.

Dear’s work draws inspiration from Gustav Klimt and the Pop-Art movement of the 1950s and 60s and combines floral patterns and bright colours. Alfa claims that the youthful vibrancy of the artwork reflects the characteristics of the car beneath it.

The car itself is the new MiTo sprint with a 1.3-litre JTDM diesel engine which emits just 95g/km of CO2 and is therefore tax and congestion charge exempt.

Dear said: "I really wanted to capture Alfa Romeo's heritage and elegance within my creation, while bringing out the stylish and fashionable aspects of the Alfa MiTo.”
