A Tesla Roadster owned by Hollywood actor George Clooney is going up for auction later this month to raise money for charity.

Clooney's Tesla is a 2008 'Signature 100' model and features Obsidian Black Metallic paintwork and a two-tone leather interior.

Despite its celebrity connection, the Tesla is only expected to fetch between $100,000 and $125,000 at auction, which is roughly the cost of buying one new.

Clooney has described the Tesla as being "thrilling to drive", but despite this, the Ocean's Eleven star has clocked up just 1,700 miles in it over the last four years.

The money raised from the auction will go to the Satellite Sentinel Project, a charity co-founded by Clooney which attempts to keep peace in Sudan by monitoring the Sudanese border.

The Tesla will go up for auction at the Pebble Beach Equestrian Centre on Saturday 18th August.
