A review of 130 Ford vehicles by Daniel Contractors Ltd has highlighted the need for Ford to provide a more fuel-efficient and environmentally friendly engine with a lower cost of ownership.
Daniel Contractors Ltd is a support services company that operates throughout the UK and overseas in the utilities, marine, civil engineering and energy sectors.
As a result of the review, Ford's fuel-efficient diesel engine is set to be improved significantly with the help of Daniel Contractors Ltd.
Paul Boulds, Head of transport at Daniel, added; "As a responsible business, we were looking for a product that met the high environmental standards we wanted to achieve while also providing Benefit in Kind (BIK) advantages for our employees."
He continued; "We spent a considerable amount of time reviewing the market and are delighted to be buying Ford’s new 1.6-litre TDCi engines featuring ECOnetic Technology, which will provide the business with a fleet that reduces our carbon footprint and also provides substantial cost savings for our employees and the business as a whole."
Ford is attempting to reduce CO2 output whilst increasing fuel economy through a number of new developments with its Ford ECOnetic Technology.
These improvements from Ford include Ford Auto-Start-Stop, Smart Regenerative Charging and Ford's Eco Mode.
The new features are in place to monitor gear change, anticipate overall speed and to encourage drivers to adopt a more fuel-efficient style of driving.
Sean Bingham, Principal consultant for ERA Fleet Cost Management, helped Daniel review the market and said; "We identified areas where significant efficiencies and savings could be made over and above those already achieved by Daniel.
"By opting for the fuel-efficient 1.6-litre TDCi engine in the Ford Focus and Ford Mondeo, Daniel has made great savings in terms of HMRC's advisory fuel rates."
