This is the Flajole Forerunner, and it's yours for £200,000.
Does the name ring any bells? Okay, we'll explain.
In 1955, a US designer by the name of Bill Flajole decided he wanted to create the ultimate car and set about designing his own motoring masterpiece.
Not being an engineer, Flajole decided to improve upon an existing model rather than building a car from scratch, and the car he chose was a 1953 Jaguar XK120. This was a good choice as the Jaaaag was the fastest car in the world at the time -- the Bugatti Veyron of the 1950s, if you will.
Flajole spent more than 7,000 hours turning the Jag into the Forerunner, and forked out more than £4,000 on his creation at a time when the average UK house price was just £1,500.
The Forerunner boasts a number of neat touches such as a retractable Plexiglas roof, buckets seats and a truly hideous paint job.
Nevertheless, we can forgive Mr Fajole's lapse in taste thanks to the 180bhp Jag straight-six engine under the bonnet: the Forerunner will get from 0-62mph in 6.4 seconds and on to a top speed of 140mph. That's impressive by today's standards.
Flajole used the Forerunner as his everyday car for fifteen years, and it has recently undergone a full restoration.
The Forerunner is on the market with Missouri-based dealer Hyman Ltd.
