Who says that the Panda is endangered? This week the 2,000,000th Fiat Panda rolled off the production lines at the Fiat Factory in Tychy, Poland.

Launched in 2003, the Panda has been a huge success for Fiat and has provided the platform on which Fiat has based a number of other cars in its range. The Panda was also the recipient of the European Car of The Year Award in 2004, seeing off competition from the Mazda 3 and the MK5 Volkswagen Golf.

The 2,000,000th Panda was a 1.3-litre diesel version finished in Pasodoble Red. It may well be one of the last second-generation Pandas to be made as there is growing speculation that Fiat is to release a new Panda later this year.
