JATO Dynamics, the world’s foremost research authority, has concluded that Fiat has recorded the lowest volume weighted CO2 emissions of any car manufacturer for a fourth consecutive year.

Fiat cars produced an average of 123.1g/km, a 4.7g/km improvement over 2009’s figures, ahead of the Europe-wide target of 130g/km by 2015.

This seems especially surprising when it seems that Fiat's average CO2 emissions also takes into account all cars made by the Fiat Group – including Ferrari and Maserati.

Fiat has managed to achieve this through implementation of new technology - including Start&Stop, electronic gearshift management and electronic traction management – combined with the use of small and efficient MultiJet and TwinAir engines.
