An auction of 1,750 Olympic-themed registration plates will take place in London's City Hall from Thursday 7th June until Saturday 9th June.
Registrations for sale include MEN 100M, RUN 100M, 2012 OG, WON 601D and the fairly questionable GO11 DEN.
A number of sports people will also be represented in the sale including diver Tom Daley (DA11 LEY), long distance runner Mo Farah (FA12 RAH) and cyclist Sir Chris Hoy (11 HOY). Boris Johnson and Olympic organiser Sebastian Coe also get nods with both SEB 60E and BOR 15X going up for sale.
As is the norm with personalised registration plates, you're going to have to do a fair bit of squinting before the name signified becomes obvious. The DVLA has also failed to point out quite why anyone apart from Mo Farah would want to own a registration plate with Mo Farah's name (sort of) spelled out on it.
A number of regular personalised plates will also be up for auction, ranging from the sort-of-comprehensible JE12 EMY (reserve £1,500), to the totally unfathomable BMX 848E (£300).
DVLA Personalised Registrations' Events Manager, Jody Davies, said: "No other country in the history of the Olympic Games has celebrated the event in this manner."
There could be a reason for that.
