Ex-Formula One driver David Coulthard and pro-golfer Jake Shepherd set a Guinness World Record yesterday at Dunsfold Aerodrome in Surrey.

Coulthard, who was behind the wheel of the Mercedes SLS AMG Roadster, caught a golf ball in the cockpit of the moving car from 275 metres away. The ball, which was driven by Shepherd, was travelling at 178mph and DC was doing 120mph in the SLS at the time of the catch.

Coulthard and Shepherd were awaded the Guinness World Record for the furthest golf shot caught in a moving car.

Coulthard said, "This world record attempt is definitely one of the most unusual things I've ever been asked to do with a car! Jake Shepherd was great to work with and the performance of the SLS AMG Roadster made driving to catch a mid-air golf ball even more exciting."

The stunt was filmed as part of a viral marketing campaign. The footage will be released next month.
