If you want to protect your car from thieves, forget Krookloks, immobilisers and alarms.

What you need is a chameleon.

Sir David Attenborough has revealed that he once used a chameleon as a car alarm after his Land Rover was broken into in Madagascar.

The naturalist had caught the large chameleon and was intending to take it back with him to London zoo.

"One night our car was broken into and the window was smashed," Attenborough explained, "so I put this big lizard on the steering wheel.

"People were coming around and I watched them go 'Aaargh!'

"Nobody would dream of breaking into the car and stealing anything with that there, so it was very interesting."
