Motorists in Coventry couldn't believe their luck when they discovered a petrol station was accidentally selling petrol at just 13.9p a litre.

The Coventry Telegraph reported huge queues in the early hours of Wednesday morning at a Jet garage on the A45, as drivers rushed to snap up the bargain-basement fuel.

A technical mistake is believed to be the cause of the mispricing and, unluckily for diesel car drivers, only one unleaded pump was affected by the blunder.

Petrol prices have not been as low as 13.9p per litre since the 1970s. At this price, brimming the tank of a Range Rover would leave change from £15.

Only one question remains: why are we never there when this sort of stuff happens?
