Citroen's new C4 Picasso is available to order now, with prices ranging from £17,500 to £24,445.
The new C4 Picasso, which was unveiled earlier this year, having been teased in concept form at the Geneva Motor Show, is the latest model in Citroen's Picasso MPV line-up which started with the Xsara Picasso back in 1999.
Based on Peugeot-Citroen's new EMP2 platform, the latest C4 Picasso is 4cm shorter and 4cm lower than the model it replaces; however, thanks to a longer wheelbase and a wider track, Citroen claims that the car offers "benchmark interior space and class-leading boot capacity". Boot space has been increased by 40-litres to 537-litres and there's an extra 2cm of rear legroom.
The new C4 Picasso is also 140kg lighter than its predecessor and now weighs about the same as the smaller C3 Picasso. This has been achieved through the use of aluminium in the Picasso's construction, as well as the use of a composite rear floor. There have also been improvements to the car's aerodynamics and drivetrains.
As a result, the new C4 Picasso emits, on average, 30g/km less of CO2 across the range than the outgoing model. The new e-HDi 90 Airdream diesel engine with a six-speed gearbox and stop-start emits just 98g/km and returns a combined 74.3mpg.
There will also be a range of higher-powered diesel engines and turbocharged petrol engines, all of which will emit 145g/km or less of CO2.
The C4 Picasso will be available in four trim levels: VTR, VTR+, Exclusive and Exclusive+. VTR trim comes with air-conditioning, an electronic parking brake, LED daytime-running lights, 16-inch alloys, cruise control and a seven-inch touchscreen infotainment system. VTR+ trim adds front fog lights, automatic lights and wipers, DAB radio, rear parking sensors and dual-zone air-conditioning.
Moving up the range, the Exclusive trim adds a twelve-inch panoramic HD display, 17-inch alloys, a leather steering wheel, keyless entry and go, sat-nav with an additional USB socket and a host of styling improvements. Top-of-the-range Exclusive+ models get radar-guided cruise control with collision alert, a blind spot monitoring system, a panoramic sunroof, 18-inch alloys, park assist, front parking sensors, tinted windows and half-leather seats.
