Britain's most expensive parking space has recently gone on sale with an asking price of £300,000 -- nearly twice the value of the average UK home.
The space is in London's ultra-exclusive and ultra-pricey Hyde Park Gardens, where houses cost tens of millions.
Offered for sale through estate agents Kay & Co, the space measures 231 square feet, which means that each square foot costs an eye-watering £1,299.
The space is also on the market for £500 more than a nearby studio flat which was sold last week through the same estate agents.
However, this is not an isolated case. Matthew Abernethy, associate director at Kay & Co, said that two nearby parking spaces have recently sold for £250,000 each and that there has also been interest in the latest space.
He said: "There are a number of properties in the area which range from £1 to £15 million and there are not enough parking spaces for all the residents.
"Parking in this part of prime central London is always scarce and the fact that people will pay more than the price of a small flat for the privilege of their own parking space is indicative of the desirability of having parking in Westminster."
However, it isn't just in the capital where the cost of a parking space has skyrocketed; three spot in St Ives, Cornwall sold last year for a combined £160,000.
