BMW officials have claimed that firm will reward the efforts of the volunteers who worked at the London Olympics by giving them the chance to buy one of the BMWs used during the games.

3,200 BMWs were used to ferry athletes and officials around the capital during the Olympics and the Paralympics.

The cars, which will have just a handful of miles on the clock, are likely to sell for up to £6,000 less than their official list price. The models on sale will include the 320d EfficientDynamics saloon, the 318d M Sport Touring and the 520d EfficientDynamics saloon.

The cars are currently being kept in Dartford, Kent, where they are having their Olympic Games livery removed.

Unfortunately, it looks like private buyers may miss out on the chance to nab a nearly new Bimmer, following speculation that the cars could be sold to the general public.
