Nearly 2,500 drivers have been fined for driving in the Olympic Games Lanes.

The 30 miles of lanes were introduced on 25th July, and since then more than £312,000 has been generated through fines.

Transport chiefs claim that the majority of drivers are obeying the rules, with only 2% of motorists driving in the Olympic 'ZiL' lanes.

Garrett Emmerson, the chief operating officer at Transport for London, said: "We have no interest in unnecessarily penalising drivers and, with a very high compliance rate of around 98% to date, the overwhelming majority are following the requirement to stay out of Games Lanes when they are in use."
